The Sacramento Valley’s Not So Secret Santa
Contributed by Jim Morris
Our valley has a special glow these days, with festive Christmas décor in many communities.
One of my favorites is the giant Santa Claus and Reindeer (including Rudolph) high atop Pierce High School in Arbuckle, that’s easily visible from Interstate 5.
School officials kindly provided some history on this Santa. It turns out that around 1950, then-instructor Charles Grimmer had one of his woodshop classes design the Santa and Reindeer.
I’m thrilled that this tradition has continued for generations!
