The abundant rainfall last winter not only provided widespread benefits to farms and cities, but it has made some great recreational activities available. Drag Boat races were held at East Park Reservoir, west of Maxwell near Stonyford and Ladoga. As I watched the races, it was easy to be impressed with the speed, power and sound of these boats.

East Park Reservoir is part of the United States Bureau of Reclamation’s Orland Project and was created in 1910 and holds 50,000 acre feet of water. The recreational facilities at the reservoir are managed by Colusa County.
