Valley Fresh Fruit Season off and running

Contributed by Jim Morris

Late spring in our valley signals the start of increased harvesting of so many delectable crops.

Among the first is the fragrant, delicate apricot, including from Bremmer’s Farm in Arbuckle.

The family moved to Colusa County in 2002, taking over an existing apricot orchard and fruit stand.  This year is their thirteenth harvest. Their combination of excellent quality, customer service, social media outreach and I-5 accessibility help them have loyal customers from Sacramento through the Pacific Northwest.

“There are people that plan their vacations around our Apricot harvest – traveling from Oregon,” remarked grower Jason Bremmer.

This is a family farm in every sense of the word. Family members help at every turn, which has helped them understand everything from growing a crop to cultivating customer relations.

Kira and Cyrus Bremmer are charged with greeting every customer that visits their farm.

Bremmer’s Farm has four varieties of apricots, which are available from now until late June. And their mammoth-sized pies have to be seen to be believed!

For those who haven’t yet fallen in love with apricots, Jason suggests you try a fresh, fully ripe piece of fruit. He says once people visit and give their apricots a try, many become regular visitors.
